For this project we had to create two 8" sculptures of two different objects and then combine aspects of each of them into one 10" metamorphosis sculpture. I did a moon and a sandcastle. Then created a broken rook with moon craters. The reason why I chose these two because when you build a big sandcastle on a beach, you put so much effort into it, and you're so proud at the end result and by the end of the day the tide has washed it away. What I'm getting at is that the moon controls the tide, so this piece is about how the moon is cause of the sandcastles destruction. Hence the broken rook.
Here they are all fired, I'll upload more pics once they're finished being painted.
Okay here are the finished pieces, all painted! The sancastle has a drawbridge on the front and little windows on all towers. The moon is painted so that if you turn it you can see the phases. The rook starts out as night sky fades to beach. Personally, my favorite is the rook.
